Who is SMS?

SMS was launched in 2012 by Mike Milo and Sean Musson, long-time associates and friends with over 50 years of combined experience in bicycles and recreational products.

Through countless strategy sessions, often transcribed on bar coasters in airports around the world, we crafted our vision of SMS. Focused. Creative. Strategic.

We are a tight-knit family that celebrates both our success and failures. Our belief that you need to work hard to play hard lives in all of us. From the start, we have learned that our strength together is what makes SMS a special company.


What guides us every day?

We wanted the kind of company with a front-room, not a boardroom; A company where a culture of hard work mixed with fun could breathe, and the spirit of creativity could thrive in each employee.
We also wanted to develop products that touch people emotionally, to remind them of a time when riding a bike was fun; or inspire them to get back on their longboard. We create fun recreational products to bring families and friends together.
Branding is our passion. We love nothing more than giving life to brands with identities that are inclusive, barrier-free, and represent value at their core.
As corporate citizens, we are active across our community and Ontario. We support cycling advocacy groups like Cycle Toronto and Smart Commute, and are directly active in our retailer partner charities like Jumpstart at Canadian Tire and Sport Chek. We are also working at the municipal level in our region to facilitate the installation of bike racks to allow our local community to develop a more comprehensive cycling strategy.

We take a unique approach with every brand, because we believe that is the only way to come up with an equally unique solution that is tailored to our customer. The core of our design capability comes from within.

Our in-house art department specializes in all areas of design. With the latest software and hardware at their disposal, a comprehensive digital photo studio, and a vinyl printing machine, we can quickly respond to any design needs. Concepts, mock-ups, packaging, presentations... anything. From idea generation to holding an actual concept in one hand and a presentation in the other, we’ve got you covered.

Daily shipping across North America
We utilize a variety of service providers to ensure that parts are getting into the builders hands as quickly as possible. Orders that are in before 2pm generally go out the same day, with tracking available for all shipments.
Easy access to technical help

All of our service manuals, assembly instructions, and technical bulletins are available both through our branded websites, like everydaybicycles.com, or through our corporate website, smsproductdesign.com. Our YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/user/SMSProductDesign, features a growing assortment of assembly videos and technical help. Need to speak with someone? Our Customer-First Service Team is available to talk, email, or chat online Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm.

Focused on delivering the best experience possible

As technology has changed, so have the expectations of the customer. We are always focused on ways to improve our communication, as well as looking for new ways to interact with our retail partners. Our future goals are to launch a new cloud-based site under SMSBikeShop.com , which will allow retailers to order parts directly from the site. Parts lists are always a challenge, so we are working towards interactive parts lists for all our bikes, making it quicker and easier for builders to get what they need.

Our Business Model

From our Canadian office in Uxbridge, and our China office in Shenzhen, important pieces of the purchasing process like factory selection, specifications management, QC analysis, product testing, social compliance, shipping coordination and tracking, are all handled – hands on - by SMS. There is no outsourcing of responsibility when it comes to making sure what was bought actually gets delivered.
